Nordic Christmas Candle Lights: 3 Cozy Ways to Style Them
Share
Somewhere between putting on the Christmas playlist and opening the ornament box, you notice it: the window could use a little glow. Not a whole makeover. Just something that makes coming home feel a bit more festive.
To style Nordic Christmas candle lights, start with a stable indoor surface, choose one main focal point, and leave the light's decorative cutouts visible. A window, mantel, or dining-room side table is a good place to begin. Below are three arrangements you can build with things you already own.
We're using Delphy Candle's Nordic Style Christmas Candle Lights: battery-operated LED lantern-style lights in Green, Red, White, and a Set option. They provide a candle-like flicker, not a scented wax candle or a real flame.
First, choose the right kind of Christmas candle light
Not all Christmas candle lights do the same job. Knowing the difference saves you from buying a pretty light that doesn't suit the spot you had in mind.
- Tabletop LED lanterns: individual decorative lights for a stable sill, shelf, or table. This is the type featured here.
- Electric candle bridges: connected rows or arches of candle-shaped lights. Check the base width, power source, and cable reach when choosing one.
- Clip-on tree candles: lights designed to attach to branches. A tabletop lantern is not a substitute for a tree-mounted light.
- Wax candles: candles you light and supervise, with different holders, heat considerations, and care instructions.
Think of the Nordic lanterns as a small Christmas accent, not room lighting. You don't need a Scandinavian-style home to enjoy them, and the product name doesn't mean they are made in Scandinavia.
1. A window that says, "You're home"
The simple setup: one lantern, one favorite ornament, and a clear view of the glow.
- Measure the usable depth of your sill before choosing a light. If the base won't sit fully supported, use a side table near the window instead.
- Place the lantern upright and face its cutouts toward the room or the view you want to enjoy.
- Add an ornament beside it, then open and close the curtains to check that they won't catch the handle or knock the display over.
- Look at the arrangement after dark. If the lantern disappears among other lights, simplify the surrounding display.
Battery operation means you don't need to run a power cord across the sill. Before buying, check the battery type and whether batteries are included; don't assume it has a remote or timer unless the selected product's instructions confirm one.
2. A mantel with room for your Christmas cards
The simple setup: a lantern as the focal point, with cards or ornaments placed to one side.
- Choose a flat spot away from fireplace heat. A decorative mantel isn't automatically a suitable place when a fire is in use.
- Place the lantern where its design can be seen, rather than behind tall decorations.
- Arrange a few favorite pieces beside it, leaving the light and its controls accessible.
- Step back. If everything competes for attention, take one item away before adding anything else.
The Green option works with a classic festive palette. Red adds a cheerful accent; White suits a softer, simpler arrangement. Pick the color that belongs with your own decorations, rather than buying a whole new set of accessories to match.
3. A Christmas table that doesn't crowd the conversation
The simple setup: a lantern at one end of the table, or on a nearby sideboard, with space left for serving dishes.
- Set out the plates and serving pieces first. Give the lantern the space that's left, not the other way around.
- Sit in a dining chair and check the sightline. Move the light if it blocks the person opposite you.
- Keep the base on a dry, stable surface away from drinks and the edge of a loose runner.
- Lower the room lights a little and see whether you need any extra decoration at all.
Want a taller candle-shaped display instead? Our Christmas LED Taper Candles with Remote, Set of 6 are a different option to explore. Planning to decorate branches? Look at Christmas Tree LED Candles with Hooks, Set of 12, rather than hanging these tabletop lanterns.

Before you buy: a quick fit check
- Measure the surface and light: compare base width and handle clearance with the space you have. Use the selected variant's dimensions, not a photo's apparent scale.
- Check the power details: confirm battery requirements, included items, and any controls.
- Choose the right location: plan an indoor display; don't assume waterproofing or an outdoor-use rating.
- Check the variant: choose Green, Red, White, or Set deliberately. A photo showing several colors doesn't mean every option includes every light.
- Keep batteries secure: these are decorations, not toys. Keep lights and loose batteries out of reach of children and pets.
A few things you might be wondering
1. Are these the same as a Swedish Advent candle bridge?
No. These are separate lantern-style LED lights, not a connected candle arch. Choose a bridge if you want a row of upright candle-shaped lights; choose a lantern when you want an individual accent.
2. Can I put them outside or hang them from the tree?
Plan to use them upright on a stable indoor surface. We haven't confirmed an outdoor rating or a tree-mounting feature for this product. Use lights designed for those purposes instead.
3. Do they have a fragrance?
No candle fragrance: the effect comes from LED light, not burning scented wax.
